I have just read on the La Marina Forum. that a petition against the Rock Concert taking place at the Market Area, Has been started, It is available to sign at 107 Calle Madrid.
I don't know if it will achieve anything positive, but at least those who feel it is wrong to hold the Rock Concert, at this place can at least feel that they have let the Council know there feelings.
To sign or not to sign, the choice is yours. If the Council do anything about it ,is the choice of the Council.

La Marina

Hi Jeff now you have started the petition to stop or move the rock concert, can you tell us were you would have hold it, if the pipn had been voted in or are you and your party just going to oppose everything that our elected council propose. I for one don,t want it but as obviously some people do so please enlighten us.

Commented britannia in La Marina 2015-06-15 15:31:37 UTC

I don't think Jeff reads or comments on this forum, If you need to ask him a question you may gat an answer on the La Marina Forum, or at pipn office
I think that you may be thinking that Jeff may try to get something changed, unfortunately that is not how Spanish politics seem to work. It is more likely that many people have mentioned about the Rock Concert and a petition may of seemed a good way to let our new Council know about the unrest.
I will add that a petition does not alter a thing, it will only mean something, if a vast amount of people are against it being held where it now appears.
I do not see where jeff says anything about cancelling it (APSUE were going to if they got in).
But if you need a place at the drop of a hat why not try Oasis Park .

Maybe Jeff should have read and used this forum, it might have helped him win more votes.

Commented Support in Alicante 2015-06-15 19:14:56 UTC

ASL. Maybe if you had any semblance of control on this forum people would respond. I certainly don't post now and your control as administrator is disgusting.
Feel free to delete I couldn't care less

Commented Weejohnten in La Marina 2015-06-15 20:31:35 UTC

Why do you think that people need to be controlled, most of the members of this forum are grown ups and should know how to control themselves, we are not at school now, this is the real world Would you like us to come into your local bars or your home and tell you what you can and can not say?
Maybe you like being told what to do, if so use the other forums with all the rules set out for you.

Commented Support in Alicante 2015-06-15 20:43:56 UTC

And you think you and your forum have or in any shape form the government of San Fulgencio you are delusional if you beleive that.
It's a wailing wall why don't people just go to Paulinio or Jeff and actually face them up instead of posting on here.
I no I will be no loss to your site but I will take your advice and post elsewhere.

Commented Weejohnten in La Marina 2015-06-15 20:52:32 UTC

If you read our post again it said MAYBE he would have got more votes. And if you beleve that social media has no say in the modern world then you have no idea about the world we now live in.
We refuse to tell grown ups what they can and can not say on this forum, freedom of speach is one of the most important freedoms we have.
If you and others would like to have your voice cut off by the rules that most other forums place on you then that's up to you, and yes go else where.
At ASL as long as you do not step over the mark of common decency then the floor is yours to speak.

Commented Support in Alicante 2015-06-15 21:02:58 UTC

I have no intentions of carrying on your silly comment "Maybe If jeff had read or used this forum it may of helped him get more votes". Firstly you are using a comment on what I said, which was to the words of "I do not think Jeff reads this forum", Using the same thinking that you used when talking to weejohnten,, you didn't read it properly.
But on your other point the other people involved in at least some of the other parties do write on here, and they all lost votes, where as Jeff s party doubled their vote and seats on the Council.
So really lets forget all that has been said, the votes over, La Marina Urbs will survive, Jeff will survive, who will get my vote in four years ,I do not know, But whomever I choose will not be because of what I read through a forum, it will be constructed through my common sense.

Commented Alan in La Marina 2015-06-16 06:34:49 UTC

Well done support at ASL. From your initial comment you've managed to start an argument.

Just a thought is the Rockfest run by the council? We have just had an election how did they know they would be re-elected so they could book the Rockfest. If Jeff had been elected he would not have had the Rockfest.I wonder if this is a private enterprise who have applied for a licence and had it granted. Just a thought Alan

Commented david in La Marina 2015-06-16 19:20:57 UTC

The Rock Festival was announced weeks before the election, even the cost of around 15000 euros was stated .Apparently APSUE announced that although arranged no contracts had been signed, so they had no intention of it going ahead, Jeff has never been a supporter of the concert, from the outset of the first one to take place, I don't think he mentioned cancelling this one, although his party may of done.
Going on cost, I did read that all official fiestas are financially aided by the Alicante Diputante, or the Valencian Authority. although I believe the one sole contract to be awarded to sell alcohol and food inside the area has been a local bar, and for an undisclosed sum, (well undisclosed to me, But I would like to see exactly how much the show costs to put on and how the money is recuperated) Hopefully this Council has promised to be "OPEN" so I am sure they will tell us, (joke)

Add me to your list..When can I come and sign!!

Commented alison in La Marina 2015-06-20 11:36:42 UTC

Or the space down by Mercadona inside the fence where the market is held Saturdays? Good enough for the circus to park so it should be good enough for the morons who take part in the concert too! I am forced to take the dog and get out for a couple of days while its on. Ridiculous to have it where it is..And all the drinking and urinating that goes on in the streets afterwards too doesn't make it any more appealing!

Commented alison in La Marina 2015-06-20 11:41:09 UTC

^ And put the fiesta and fireworks down there aswell,

Commented flagkilo in La Marina 2015-06-21 08:11:28 UTC

Alison, when you say morons are they the ones also known as tourists and locals that dare to enjoy the fieasta's? Hoe come other towns don't seem to complain to such an extent.

Been coming out to la-marina for 25 years, always enjoyed it. can you tell me is it all the old ex-pacts that are always moaning about the fiestas. after all it is spain and a spanish way of life. For 3 days its money back into the community surely thats a good thing.

Commented ianreason in La Marina 2015-06-21 20:21:55 UTC

Fiestas is one thing. The Rock festival is quite another - you don't have to live beside it. Although last year it was somewhat less noisy than the year before when they were playing until 2 in the morning and the cups were dancing on the shelves in my kitchen! The music was extreme - just a lot of frantic screaming that you couldn't with the best of will call music...

Commented alison in La Marina 2015-06-22 07:02:50 UTC

It looks like the Sanfest Rock Arena. Will take place on the 11 th July
entry is free and it kicks off at 18.30 finishing around 03.00 the following morning.
This is according to the La Marina Info web site.
so ANOTHER great night a head ,better get me head banging gear sorted. lol

I occaisionaly read some of the stuff on this forum. First let me say that it was ASL. that said that they would not print anything to do with PIPN or the election or from me. I still have a print out of this. I took a copy for my solicitor.
Also to point out that PIPN received 398 votes from the Urb. Mainly from extranjeros. PP got a total of 596 votes.. this wss made up of 298 votes from Spanish residents and 298 from extranjeros..So PIPN got more expat votes than any other party. As this post will probably be edited or scrubbed by ASL admin. I will not be continuing with this thread. Short memories or selective amnesia .

Commented Jeff Wiszniewski in La Marina 2015-06-26 10:05:27 UTC

Just the names of the performers are enough.. Metallica...Death Angels...My God! For goodness sake, spare us - What quantity of brains does it take to understand this event should be removed to the outskirts of the urb for the sake of everyone... 3 am? How come restaurants who play music with an acceptable noise level are fined or closed down while this moron concert is allowed to play until 3 am twice as loud if not more? I'd say its a case of what's good for the goose is NOT good for the gander.... Wonder if we who have to put up with it should all seek compensation - or maybe tickets for a weekend cruise to get away from it? Our animals would still be left to suffer that's the only thing.. Judging by that horrible festival they hold in San Fulgencio, some people don't much care about that either.... Shame!

Commented alison in La Marina 2015-06-26 11:31:58 UTC

My goodness. Why are you in Spain.??I think the home counties sound more to your liking.I don't particularly like Heavy rock myself but my god, live and let live. You can't always have it all your own way you know. All different people must be catered for.I said I would not come on this moaning wall again but after reading moan after moan after moan I can't resist.Viva La Rock!!!!

Commented blarter222 in La Marina 2015-06-26 11:56:36 UTC

blarter...There are few who loves listening to pop and rock more than I do, but I wonder if you experienced the first one 2-3 years was downright painful - and totally out of control. Also - do you live across the road from it?? Do you have to put up with drunk teenagers urinating into your yard and throwing beer cans and bottles around? I think not...You are right - I agree- I didn't come here to be forced to have to listen to such amateur trash as they put on in the Rock concert - so called...although no - the home counties do not call.

Commented alison in La Marina 2015-06-26 12:55:40 UTC

I could not agree more, Alison.
Although if you think the concert will end at 3.00am then you may have to think again.
Two years ago they cranked up the sound for the finale at 5.30 and the noise went on for a further 15 minutes.
The Spanish way of life and Spanish customs are in no way connected with this event which should never be held in the location planned.

Commented harrykarry0 in La Marina 2015-06-26 13:17:02 UTC

Jeff Wiszniewski,
you wrote:
" PIPN received 398 votes from the Urb. Mainly from extranjeros. PP got a total of 596 votes.. this wss made up of 298 votes from Spanish residents and 298 from extranjeros".

How can you know who voted for the different parties?
You do not know which party got my vote! Nor how my neighbor voted. Spanish or no Spanish residents.

Commented reindeer keeper in La Marina 2015-06-26 13:36:01 UTC

No, you are right I don't live near it,however I don't live a hundred miles from the three night , four am finish, August Fiesta and all the ungainly stuff that goes with it,when the foam parties finish....usually later. I bought ear plugs and got on with it.Its one night.

Commented blarter222 in La Marina 2015-06-26 15:40:40 UTC

This forum proves once again that no live music event should be held on the Urb, because its a RESIDENTIAL area. I am quietly amused by the folk complaining about the Rock concert; I didnt hear much support from these people regarding anything happening in the Consum area. I suppose that's different - it's a 'Fiesta' - yeah, because the Spanish are well-known for loving a foam party...aren't they.

Commented flagkilo in La Marina 2015-06-26 17:59:30 UTC

I have no objection to live music events taking place on the urbanisation, whether they be in the consum area, the market area, or elsewhere. The only thing I ask is that they finish at a reasonable hour, are adequately policed and cause minimal inconvenience to residents. Unfortunately the people that organise these events cannot seem to grasp this concept.

Commented harrykarry0 in La Marina 2015-06-27 01:08:38 UTC

Totally agree, Harrycarry...Its not the fact that its live music....its the length of time it goes on, and the lack of organisation and policing. Surely its not unreasonable to want peace and quiet by 12-1 at night? And to be free from drunks in the yard in the middle of the night? Viva Rock, as someone said - but not in the centre of the urb!

Commented alison in La Marina 2015-06-27 06:52:00 UTC

Reindeer keeper, at the polling station on voting day I saw PIPN election candidates sitting on the voting tables, each one with an electoral list of voters. They were marking off on their list the names of each expat as they showed their passport to vote.

Commented Mary in La Marina 2015-06-27 07:19:13 UTC

Harrycarry, Alison, I agree - but in my experience, because most people don't live within earshot of either the music or people causing trouble late into morning, those that do are assumed to be 'moaners' or NIMBYs.

Commented flagkilo in La Marina 2015-06-27 07:44:14 UTC

to check the names of the people voting is not the same as checking how they voted. That is impossible to know.

Commented reindeer keeper in La Marina 2015-06-27 08:13:58 UTC

To Reindeer Keeper, The figures worked out are a very close approximation. As the Spanish residents also voted in the Autonomical elections that figure was counted accurately. The PP got 298 votes. Calculating that the same 298 voters also voted for the PP in the Municipal election and we know the total number of votes cast were 596 for PP. We can calculate that the extranjero vote for the PP was approximately 298. Not an exact figure but very close to it.

Commented Jeff Wiszniewski in La Marina 2015-06-27 08:48:32 UTC

Jeff Wiszniewski,
I see what you mean. But still you can not know. People quite often vote for one party in the Autónomicas and for another in the Municipales.
But now we are far from the thread started by Alan PETITION TO HAVE THE ROCK CONCERT MOVED.
Sorry Alan!
Back to the subject. As long as it is a well organized concert with not extremely loud music and not going on many hours after midnight it should, in my opinion, be ok. It is after all only once a year.
