I DO NOT UNDERSTAND

I have just been doing some Google searching and have found out some very interesting information as to what is going on in the La Marina area on sites such as the LEADER where Jeff and his office have sent in reports so that it can be published. What I do not understand is why this same information is not added to this site by the same people and not left to others to do the job for them, I am sure its not left to others to send in reports to the news papers.
I have emailed Steve who is the owner of the site and asked for the amount of people that use the La marina site and how many people were signed up, he but the figure of members at over 800 and the amount of visitors at about 1100 every day. Now thats got to be a lot of people looking for info about the area and not finding it.

Its just an observation but are these people not responsible for telling everyone what is going on so should go to places like this to do so?

La Marina

Tina

I 100% agree with what you are saying. My only thing on the council publishing posts on here is that, any post members may not take a like to or disagree on will end up being completely smashed and nasty posts added just crappy stuff.
Then when no one replies to it, members will get even more aggravated by the fact no one is replying. I think a quarterly news letter that is available at the town halls, local bars, shops and so on would go down well.

Tina,
I dont often support Jeff on this Forum, but can understand him, when he says you can get his thoughts on his blog,I am sure he reads this forum, and takes in what is said. But if he answers every comment to do with council work or himself,he would spend more time than he has to spare answering each comment, some of which are personal attacks on him,I think he has learned a lot since he got his 15minutes of fame, and has probably learned not to answer in the same manner as some of the comments are made. Also very few people make comments on this forum, which means a tiny percentage of people will neither know the question or the reply of anything on here. Then of course as you are probably aware, this is not the only local forum that includes La Marina.,so does he read and answer each comment?I dont think I would be too happy if he did.
Lastly the best way to get hundreds of people and keep them up to date on what is occurring around La Marina is surely using the Local Free Newspapers.
My opinion at the moment is that certain people are using this Forum to denigrate Jeff and what he stands for.
As he himself has said the council is not just one man,but if you need an answer to a question get up and go and see the man, look him in the eyes when you put your point over and look even closer into his eyes when he gives an answer

Alan, like Syd I have tried to make a comment on Jeff's blog. It is impossible, and I understand Spanish. Which leads me to another point. Why is Councillor Wiszniewski's blog in English, yet an invitation to make a public comment on his blog can only be attempted In Spanish!
Andi, you seem to be Jeff's representative on this forum, in the absence of a response from the councillor himself, can you please advise if Jeff can speak and write Spanish?

Sandra if you have such a problem, why dont you do what most people do who have a issue,go see the man or stop moaning about not being able to leave a comment on his blog.. As for being his representative, ha thats the best laugh ive had all day. go complain to the mans face if you have a problem with him and not bitch out over a lap top.

Sandra bit of info for you, if you know how to read fluient spanish you will see when you leave a comment on his blog it will ask you how you wish to leave it. E.g private, public blah blah. its easier to use a google email address to make a comment. so you carry on with your Spanish.

Alan I was on about the press release that was in the news paper and not something that needed a comment made.
You say that there is little point in posting on this site as not many people comment but if you look at the topic about curry you will see that 46 comments have been made in a few days, not bad when you think that only about 200 expats voted for Jeff's party so I think that it shows that this site is important to the people of the area.
I agree that the local newspaper is a great place to find out what is going on but its a local paper what about all the people that do not live here, the ones we want to visit to fill the bars and keep the area going, they go on line and if you Google La Marina you do not get the websites of the papers or Jeff's blog you get sites like this.

Andi, Impact Charity, (which I have been told this morning is also Andi), I have looked thro all the pages on Jeff's blog and their are only 4 'commentarios' on there and these are from November last year, not surprisingly, those 4 commentaries are by a Jeff_PIPN!
So in actuality there are no public commentarios on councillor Wisznieskis blog, even tho he does invite people to write a comment. Perhaps you Andi, and anyone else reading this would like to try to make a comment on his blog and report back your experience. Also Andi, or Jeff of course, can you please answer the question " can councillor Jeff speak and write in Spanish"?

Commented Sandra in La Marina 2012-04-19 07:29:47 UTC

Sandra.

Yes I'm Andi and no I'm not impact charity, that's my mother along with a committee, yes she uses the same computer as me, what's your problem with me. That's got nothing to do with impact charity or what I say on here.
As for Jeffs blog, go take a trip up to the mini town hall and ask him how to add a comment.

Tina
Yes 46 comments on the indian restaurant,16 of which were from anonymous,as far as I am concerned that is def. not 16 comments by different people, several comments were not to do with the actual restaurant, many more were two or more comments by the same person, plus the odd couple repeating the same thing,I could go on but you knew all this in the first place,so the 46 comments you state, were actually a lot less.Just as a thought could you tell me how many comments were answered on this or any other local forum during the previous council reign, and how many times did the local councillor of that reign have an open office, for you to go to with your problems, and lastly what was his blog.

Commented Alan in La Marina 2012-04-19 10:08:56 UTC

Of course Alan you are right a lot of the comments were by the same people, but I am sure that if you look over many topics you will see a good number of different people chatting.
To answer your question about the comments made during the previous council reign the answer is NONE as there was not a website in the area for A Spanish Life at that time its only been going for 12 months I think.
But if the councilor for this area does not want to use other sites to inform the people then that is up to him, lets see if he feels the same when it comes to election time

Have to put this on Tina you were writing your answer, while i was amending mine,
So I will put here what i was amending mine to.And that was "on this forum or any other local forum"but to add to your latest comment, has the ex-local councillor put anything on this forum since he lost his position,or will he wait until the next election.

Commented Alan in La Marina 2012-04-19 10:27:10 UTC

Alan you said it perfect. If you didnt vote for the PP or PIPN and if I'm correct the PP got only just over 100 votes from the URB surely all the people who voted against the PP or PIPN should be on here laying into the councillors who promised this and that, instead your laying into the new council. It wouldn't suprise me if none of the opposition turn up to important discussions at the town hall when they all meet for important meetings.
The groups who didn't get in as local goverment where ae they now, all there promises, why aren't they fighting for your say now, got better things to do probably, they will all be around a year before next elections promising you this and that again.

Commented Andi in La Marina 2012-04-19 11:08:28 UTC

I think you both have very good points, that come election time the prospective Councilors will be beating the drums on every local forum there is.

Its just something I think they should be doing now. A site like this and the others could be very important to getting votes, if I were looking at standing then I would start developing a relationship with the sites and the owners of them, as they have control of what is allowed to stay on the forum and could support one party and not another, using the delete button where they wanted to so as to support one party and not another.
