I applaud Jeffs visit to the problem area at Justo Quesada but unfortunately you picked the wrong night .All the usual Spanish lads who make the noise outside Chief O,neils were at the event in San Fulgencio that you had just left.However if you had returned at 2.o am you would have found a different scene because those culprits were back and the British lads on holiday were making plenty of racket outside the George with the doors open and treating the whole area to thump ,thump,thump.The whole problem lies with the late 4.0am licence and the need for a more robust policing of the noise be it music or people.Since the law governing noise from premises such as bars is not being adhered to then the offenders cannot expect any sympathy when the axe falls.It is possible for these bars to make a living but not at the expense of spoiling neigbours lives.We didn,t invite these businesses here but if we were treated with respect they would find more local customers using their premises at sensible hours.

How long is it going to be for the powers that be to WAKE UP to the fact that it is the late night bars that are the problem. Not saying that all other bars are perfect but as long as they stop at a reasonable time about midnight most can put up with that.
I went past the Irish bar one night at about 1.00 and not sure about the noise but had to slow down to miss the bottle bear rowdies all over the place. Wake up Councillor these are the ones you need to watch not the smaller bars that are just trying to make a living. Now that you have had the Police check all the Bars paperwork-The police should on a very regular YES REGULAR base watch and keep an eye out on all busy nights.

Was told last night that it seems that the driving force in the idea of checking all bar paperwork, is to bring in extra revenue. Apparently in some cases the bars paperwork is in the name of the person who owns the establishment and not the name of the person who is renting the premises . Where this is found to be the case they are being charged 1,000 euros to change over. If this was a bar down in La Marina Village that comes under Elche the charge to change is only 25.00 euros. This has to lead to the price of a pint going up?

Sounds like the council is doing everything in its power to “look the other way” and let the bar area carry on without the correct licence’s.
I do not understand why the café bars are permitted to have live entertainment when the law in Spain states they must be soundproofed with the correct licence. Basically I think it is because they know they would not be granted entertainment licences due to the location of the bars as they are on top of people’s homes and in a residential area.
If these bars want entertainment, then they should move off the urb and relocate down by IceLand. Guardamar had a similar problem, hence all the problem noisy bars ended up on the trading estate.
This is not a new problem, the problem and complaints started way back in 2003, basically when the first of the bars started entertainment, it became so bad that in 2006 the Mayor of San Fulgencio called all the Consum bar owners to a meeting along with the local press and informed them quite clearly that in order to play music they had to abide by the Valencian laws. This was Reported by Paul Mutter for the RTN.
It is OK for the customers of these bars referring to local residents such as myself and my neighbours as moaners, however I feel I have every right to complain when these bars generate unwanted noise every single night.
I read Jeff and the Police visiting these bars, that’s a joke. Only last night at the Consum area on the upper level a bar had its terrace windows open blasting out Karaoke.
Golfer posted a link to a form that we should fill in, I along with many of my neighbours (English, German and Spanish) completed these forms, took them to Jeff’s office, they refused them as they were not all written in Spanish, and they would not help translate them for us. The result being that some of my Spanish neighbours have now written to the department in Alicante who are responsible for these bar licences.
I admit I am afraid to use my full name on this forum; however I am more than willing to provide my full name to the Forum administrators if requested.
Hence I will only use my nickname, from experience I have been subjected to reprisals from some of the bar owners and their customers. Broken Glass and bottles thrown into my property at 2 am, dog mess put in my letterbox during the night, post box smashed etc etc I could go on. This usually occurs the night after I have phoned the Police to complain, hence I no longer call the Police.

Wow. I was not going I comment on this but, are the people who are commenting on this really "THICK". You all have the number to call the police if the noise is to loud.
So instead of keep saying the council ain't doing enough, ring the police and report them.
It's like I've seen a crime, instead of reporting it like a normal person I will keep pretending I'm thick and talk about it on a forum. YOU HAVE THE NUMBER SO CALL IT

I think what Randi is saying is that he can not call the Police as he gets his place trashed the day after he does and there seems to be a link, so he has stopped doing this.
From the amount of people that seem to have a problem with the bars and noise I think it is time that the "powers to be", whoever they are had better take some action or they may find that the people start taking matters into their own hands and start making noise of their own in the ears of people who have a lot more power.
This can only result in a lot of problems all round and maybe even forcing bars out of business, which is the last thing I am sure anyone wants.

So come on whoever you are lets get this sorted as the writing is on the wall and others will be doing it for you soon.

But people can't keep complaining on here. The forum is not the police or the council. There's nothing this forum can do in trying to keep the peace or help people.

I agree with what you say, but people are only using this forum as I see it to find out who else has a problem with the bars and noise, its an easy way of doing a bit of research to see who is on your side, once there is a core of people then they will get together and take action.

The bar Randy is on about makeing all the noise was the Aloha Bar, I think it may be new owners.

I think people will post about problems with noisy bars whilst the Bars keep advertising music and noisy nights.

Off on my hols now for 3 weeks, hope it's all quiet and sorted out when I get back
