Very Important Information – Please Read

At this time, you may not be aware that the government’s decision to freeze electricity prices last October was recently overturned by the Supreme Court of Spain and their action deemed, unlawful.

We are taking this opportunity to explain how the decisions made by the Supreme Court will affect you directly.

The Court Decrees made in March obligate all electricity companies to revise the bills issued for electricity consumed since 1st October, 2011.

As a result of this, your electricity company have no choice but to re-invoice you, and charge you the difference between the *access tariffs published then, and now. The access tariff is not the whole of the kilowatt price shown on your electricity bill, it is the part of the kilowatt price that is regulated and fixed by the government.

This additional charge applies to all consumers of electricity, irrespective of their current supplier. Electricity companies are obligated by law to make this charge, it does not represent profit for them and will be passed directly to the grid company responsible for generating and distributing electricity.

You should expect to receive details from your current electricity company, explaining the additional charges and the billing periods to which they apply. The amount which needs to be paid will be split between your bills from now until 31st December, 2012 in order to comply with article 4 or Order IET/843/2012.
Acting on your behalf and in your best interest, Iberswitch will continue to keep you informed of any changes in the law that may affect you, and to answer any questions that you may have.

On my last bill dated 30/04/12 it states :-
Adjustments for the period 23-31 December 11
(*) electricity tax
4'864% s/52.64 x 1.05113....................€2.69.

*.....in accordance with the conditions of your contract, the prices have been updated to take into account the variation in the regulated items listed in order IET/843/2012 of 25th April.
So looks like it's true.

Don't have anything to with Iberswitch, they are con merchants. I switched to them Dec 2011 and they changed me to Elecval in Feb 2012. I waited 3 months for the first bill while Iberswitch took 4 monthly payments of €4.17, only to find Elecval were more expensive than Iberdrola. I cancelled my contract with Iberswitch the same day.

Yes Ian it is true ,my account was adjusted in late April to take accountof this.
I think Iberswitch are advertising it as the customers they have will also have to pay,and it saves them getting loads of complaints about being rip off merchants.
