Moving

Hi my 1st post.
My wife and I bought a villa in La Marina Urb 10 yrs ago for our retirement and we have been popping over 2 or 3 times a year. The changes over the years has been unbelievable, more villa`s,people going home, bars shutting/changing hands etc etc, what is happening to the Urb.
At long last we have both retired and are moving over at the beginning of August, are we doing the right thing?
To late now,we love the place.
Alan

La Marina

Hi Alan
I would say very positively you are doing the right thing. It is a lovely place to be retiring to. Don’t take to much notice of the banter up here on the forum. It is all a little heavy at times . Mainly at the moment over the lack, of skills coming from the new council team. They have latched onto the fact that us foreigners , like to in the summer months listen to live entertainment, or even have a little dance whilst eating out in the evenings. They seem to be determined to stop this terrible habit. They are trying to dictate that we should only ever want to sit inside in the evening in AIR CONDITIONED rooms.
In passing it would make a fantastic Carry On Film

Would agree with Hope,La Marina is a great place to be full time,You will have time to meet some wonderful people, who will help you as much as possible, when help is needed.
Only a couple of things spoil it,The main one is 15 people who are meant to work to make it a perfect place for everybody, when the truth is they couldn't run a party in a brewery.

Cant see any wrong the Urb is evolving
There is plenty of good restaurants and cafe and bars.

Seams strange you seem to know the obvious but have doubt.

I think a lot of English have gone to Turkey has they are not in the Euro
But we had Two weeks break at our
place and found it very cheap to eat out.

I believe thoughs whom have gone home just got it badly wrong including the bars.

Hi Alan, We don't comment much on here (we never have much useful to add hahahaha) but we keep track of the latest posts and whenever we post a question everyone is great in their responses. We have a house in la marina ourselves and friends already living out there - they look 20 years younger than they actually are and love their lives out there. We are (obviously) insanely jealous and are working hard in England to pay our bills off and get out there permanently ourselves. Congratulations for getting to the stage where you can do it - life is what you make it and I'm sure you'll carve a fantastic new life for yourself in sunny, friendly La Marina!
Hope the move goes okay and all the very best in your new home!
With warmest wishes,
Andrea & Kev

If you can, I would say keep your place in the UK. Nothing against Spain, my family has had property here for 35 years, it's just nice to have a place in the UK.
