Outrageous !!!!

There are no other words to discribe what has happened today other than outrageous !
I have heard today, on very good authority, that a meeting was held at one of the English speaking popular radio stations that we currently advertise on, that it is to be closed with immediate effect, because they do not have a licence to broadcast.
This action was by the instruction of Valencia, who will be systematically closing all illegal English, German, Spanish & Dutch radio stations by the end of the week.
These English, Spanish, German & Dutch radio stations provide an invaluable service providing information to the various communities, I believe this will not help provide a stable local economy, by closing them all down, it’s going to cause more un-employment not only to the stations, but to all the peripheral support the station uses, including all other media’s & local business more importantly the charities & politicians that use the air time to promote themselves.
I understand there are legal procedures to follow in Spain, why can’t Valencia show them how to become legal & then at least give them notice to arrange all the correct licences, what’s next local papers, TV stations ?

La Marina

Another nail in the box.
I can see US IN NEED OF A RADIO CAROLINE. As we had back in the 60s. In fact I think it still operates. Perhaps they can sail down here and set up.

I can see everyone frustration regarding this but the ultimate fact is if you don't have correct licences to operate then they will get you.
Just like from what I know or hear of is that all artists who perform need to pay taxes.
Infant speaking to a solicitor a month or so ago he said Spain is bankrupt it wants it's money back. They should close establishments that are making money and are operating illegally. Everyone says well they should teach us is English German or what ever language. No they shouldn't this is Spain so either get a Spanish solicitor or learn language. If a foreigner goes to the UK and wants to start a bussniess you think they will say tip we will get a interpret, no they learn English.
Spain is going to start hammering bussniess / charities/ all establishments that have evaded paying taxes or are set up illegally.
That's my opinion most will not agree.

Here's a link to there website they were actually closed down yesterday. This is on there website

Great idea Douglas, Local radio stations buy a boat, anchor off the coast, bussiness as usual. I remember Caroline then later on in the 80's Laser 558 why not could work well & they can't close them down ??

Andi,
I totally agree that Businesses & charities alike should be legal, but come on a radio station that’s running for years doing great work for the communities, why can’t Valencia just show them how to become legal instead of just going in with their size 12 boots, if Valencia showed them how to become legal surely that would raise more much needed revenue for central government and the local economy.

Paul I have no idea but why has it taken them so long to realise that TKO didn't have correct info surely there's a mistake on someone's part.
I think it's the most popular radio show in La marina. Like you say it's all the jobs that have now been lost.

Andi you really should go back to the UK for a visit and then see how many shops up and down the country operate illegally and how many with no English speaking staff, also if they do go down the correct channels they are provided with translators as opposed to here were they have to be paid for.

This is obviously why this morning TKO Gold kept sending a message saying they were going to be off air from 3pm today.

What a shame it was an excellent, informative radio station, with great DJ's and music.

Chris.
From personal experience, my brother runs The southern region part of a roofing company, not a big company but a small successful one that's his been apart of for over 15 years.
They have a small shop offices space they use for paperwork, roof samples, tiles and so on. They used a company formation agent, it initially cost them under £100 pound to get the process up and running. A company formation agent is usually there for helping you set up a company but also do other things. Once it's in there hands they had all the paperwork needed to open.
Over time they had to pay fees but they opened straight away and it was that easy.

It seems that of the 2000+ radio stations in the Valencian region, only 3 have the correct licences to broadcast, and they were issued many years ago. It appears there is no procedure in place currently to obtain the correct licences, only to stop stations from broadcasting ?........welcome to Spain....

That was a very useful piece of information John.
I can now see the Armada of nearly 2,000 boats out at sea doing a Radio Caroline. Think of the income from supplying all those boats with essentials.

After reading the front page of the courier this morning it seems TKO had been warned about the licence issue, and other stations have been issued the same thing from Valencia.
I don't think TKO will be making a come at all
It's just everyone whoseost there job, along with there medical cover for them and maybe there family.
