CHARITY BAR!
I have listened to people chatting recently in local bars and restaurants about charities and charity shops. There is one local animal charity that has six charity shops in different towns and also has recently opened a bar! For many years this charity has maintained one kennels in Dolores for dogs only. When people have called this charity for help with a stray dog the response is always “We are full and cannot help you”. This same charity holds more fund raising events than any other and seems to spend all the money raised on building its own empire, not on helping to save at least some of the increasing number of abandoned dogs that need rescuing. If this charity had surplus money in the bank, enough to spend on opening up a bar, wouldn't it have been more prudent to open up another kennels!
The next big moan/issue will probably be the tourist /holiday makers coming here and buying all the goodies in the supermarkets and trying to have a good time being happy, drinking, eating, and chatting etc that the old La Mariners used to do when they 1st came here well that's what they thought they wanted, but then they got bored with happy so went back to moaning (that is what they are good at and really really like)
Just seems so sad that one charity is slagging off others. Can't see Red Cross saying we saved more than OxFam
Dont think that they are jetting of around the world using the donations like politcians.

There is one local animal charity that has six charity shops in different towns and also has recently opened a bar! (yes this is true - all run by hard working volunteers). For many years this charity has maintained one kennels in Dolores for dogs only.(CORRECT) When people have called this charity for help with a stray dog the response is always “We are full and cannot help you”.(NOT TRUE!!!!!) This same charity holds more fund raising events than any other and seems to spend all the money raised on building its own empire, (WHAY A LOAD OF RUBBISH!!) not on helping to save at least some of the increasing number of abandoned dogs that need rescuing. (THEY RESCUE DOGS DAILY - FROM NEW BORN PUPPIES LEFT OUTSIDE THE GATES - THEIR EYES WERE NOT EVEN OPEN!!! TO FRAIL,DISABLED, ABUSED AND ELDERLY DOGS) If this charity had surplus money in the bank, enough to spend on opening up a bar, wouldn't it have been more prudent to open up another kennels! (COME TO THE KENNELS WITH ME ON TUESDAY AND SEE THE WORK THEY DO................... [email protected] (a willing volunteer dog walker and fund raiser)
I remember many years ago when SAT opened the new kennels in Dolores, they may have had one charity shop at that time, perhaps not even one. It does seem a little strange that now they have 6 charity shops and a bar, all presumably opened to increase funds to rescue more animals, but still only one kennels!
This anti SAT, has got to stop, or all the money the Charity takes will be spent on court costs. If anyone has proof of misuse of funds at SATs, then go to the Authorities, That will achieve at least one thing, that their will be one Dogs kennel less.(if you anti SATs few could prove misuse of funds)My opinion that if their was any misuse, the few Antis would of reported them, The fact that they are trying to malign the charity by using the normal La Marina Telegragh system, is enough prove for me that they know of nothing untoward, is wrong, so on that case alone SATs I am with you,l et the liars and fabricators,go on there own silly way. So to the instigators or anyone else siding with them PUT UP OR SHUT UP.

You have regrettably gone totally over the top this time. Nowhere in the above comments can I find any mention of miss-appropriation of funds?
The point that is being made, I think, is that the expansion of the charity shop activities are being considered before the building of new kennels.
Clearly there are differing opinions on this matter?

Sorry if you think I had gone O.T.T.with the wording in my comment,But try reading them again. Perhaps you will see why I had drawn the conclusions that I did.
Do people realise how much it costs just to run one kennels, caring for over 100 dogs with a vet bills etc. The remarkable work of the volunteers in these charity shops help to raise the much needed funds for the kennels.
Thank you for your support with your comments Alan and instead of the moaning / complaining comments come and offer your services in one of the shops or to walk the dogs in the kennels, or to offer a forever home to one of the wonderful dogs.
Don't gamble much,But had a little wager with a Friend,that Bars and Charities,would be the issue on this Forum before the school holidays begin.
Sue lets not start more bickering,about what and what not Charities should be here,You are not forced to buy anything from or donate anything to any charity in this or any Country, You obviously have a previous grievance with this charity,so live with it.Their has got to be more to life than picking holes in these charities,if you want to change how they work,then surely help them,then earn a place on a committee,then work hard to change the rules,fighting them from the outside achieves nothing,except pain for every Charity.Please stop this annual anti certain charities
