I haven't had solar panels installed but have had a quote for 6.5kw fully automated with battery house plus computer, plus sun following panels on a pole, for a new property. and the quote was €25,000. So as my electric bill is approx. €1,200 a year it will take me over 20yrs just to break even. Just for hot water the quote was for €2,700 (a panel on the roof), I use about 6 bottles of gas a year just for my hot water, which amounts to around €100. So you see I would advise you study it very carefully before going ahead.

Thanks for the info. The quote I have had was a lot cheaper than the ones you got. But sometimes cheaper is not the way to go and I want to get a few before I make my mind up.

The quality of the solar panel is a major factor to the price.

Hi l have had Solar now for 2 years and had no problems. l'm on a 24v system with 12 - 2v deep cycle batt. My system cost me aprox 5000.00. euros. l know there is a guy l think it's Almera who is selling complete Solar syetems for that price. But beware in the winter time when the sun is not shining every day you might need a Wind Turbine. That's another 1000.00euros
Also remember if the elec fails you cant call the energy coy you have to sort it yourself.

I must add that my quote of €25,000 was for a full 6.5watt system, so that I could run washing machine, dishwasher, electric kettle, heating, and anything else you can think of, all at the same time. I doubt you would have that capacity with your system at that price.
