Somewhere to eat on the Urb?

Hi we are new to La Marina, just staying for a couple of months. I have Family coming out next week, can anyone suggest anywhere nice to take them to eat. All I can see is café bars that don't look that inviting?

La Marina

breakfast at the Final Whistle is brilliant and friendly and main meals

Thanks Peter, I know the Final Whistle is good, had a burger there the other day, but looking for somewhere a little special e.g. somewhere that you get dressed up to go to?

I would also suggest El Matador and The Grill House and also Rojos and J's in the Consum Square area. Posh Indian there is also excellent. If you want something really nice where you could dress up, I would suggest a trip off the Urbanizacion to Benijofer to Auberge and also El Gallo there, both really really nice restaurants It is also close to Bejimar where there is another couple of restaurants worth a visit. There is Mexican, The Yellow Rose and one past Studz on the right hand side, on the far corner which is also really nice. I can't remember the name but they do floor shows there on certain nights. You also have an excellent Chinese on the opposite side and just back from that by the roundabout there is another nice one. In Guardamar you have La Vuelta down at the bottom of the Park down a side street on the coastal side. This is a really nice one also where you can dress up for a night out. They have entertainment on some evenings here and it is a definate dress up one also. I have been told the new Indian restaurant which replaced Picassos up a couple of doors away from El Mataodr is good but have not been there so cannot vouch for it. I hope this is of some help.

Forgot to mention another worth a visit where you can dress up. Try Bibiana's in San Fulgencio village. Really nice spanish style restaurant with excellent food but you need to book a table in advance. Book one for around 8pm. The table is yours for the entire evening so you can have a leisurely meal. Very nice, friendly place. English spoken so don't worry if you cannot speak spanish.

La Vuelta Guardamar has now closed and relocated to what was Country Cooking ( or similar name) between San Fulgencio and Rojales. Is now known as La Vuelta Finca and opened this weekend after extensive refurbishment. No doubt will keep up their superb dining standard.

Two great Indian restaurants, one in the grey area and one in consum square, Two great chinese restaurants in consum square, Ramons, Bonnies, Grill House and the French Restaurant in the grey area, Aloha, Rojos & J's Bar in Consum Square, to name but a few.

The best chinese on La marina is the one opposite Consum, not the one next to the Final Whistle. The one opposite have a brilliant Thai menu as well as 2 others to choose from. Not a place to dress up to go to but good food.

There is also a really nice Argentinian restaurant just on the other side of Guardamar. Drive down the N332, pass Guardamar, under the underpass and down to the next roundabout, go off to the right here and you will come to the restaurant. There is nothing else there so you can't miss it. Can't remember the name of it though but I am sure somebody will know it.

Wow, thanks everyone, so much to choice from. I will certainly try some of the place you all kindly suggested. I guess I will check out some these places before the Family get here on Friday. Thank you for your suggestions, what a wonderful forum.

Avoid Pizza 999 down where Mercadona is.
Food was horrible. Dry, hard meatballs,
pizza with pre-cooked buns (thats a big no no)

Commented cybertommy75 in La Marina 2014-03-11 15:20:25 UTC

I suggest you just go and try places and make your own mind up, There is (despite what one restaurant claims) LOADS of fine dining in the area and loads of good restaurants and bars. Come and try Sunday lunch at Aloha and it is one of the best on the Urb. There are many value for money places to eat so try them all.

Hi Simon. If you are looking for something "special" then Patagonia Steak house is the place to treat yourself, and IS the sort of "dress up" place you are probably looking for?
Possibly the best looking restaurant, that is not just a café or bar! Fantastic food too!

Commented The Patagonia in La Marina 2014-03-14 08:24:24 UTC

We went to Patagonia's last year , they charged me 1euro for a little dollop of Mayo ! Not been back since!!!

Commented Poppy in La Marina 2014-03-14 12:49:30 UTC

Try Rivingtons down by the side of La Marina camping on the old 332 road
Great 3 course meal great surroundings and somewhere you can go dressed up a little
Set menu under 12 euro
NB . The comment below is I think in relation to Patagonia not to be confused with Rivingtons

Commented Ken in La Marina 2014-03-14 15:05:47 UTC

Definately want watching if you go there. The "so called" eat all you want menu only covers the grill. You pay through the nose for anything else and the drinks are extortionate

Commented nikkimunday in La Marina 2014-03-14 15:17:12 UTC

Also try the hillside bar, we do Sunday carvery from 1 30 till 3 30 . 2 courses, half bottle of wine , all for 10 50 euro,s tel 966797673

For a really special night if you don't mind a drive from La Marina only 15 mins but worth the trip, then El Gusto Benijofar is outstanding x

Thanks for your comments, i was there twice and was beautiful ,because i been in Argentina and the pizza was just like there, in my opinion the service was great , very clean, good atmosphere and also get my bottle of wine for free with the voucher, i would recommend this place.

Just spotted 2 quotes about Patagonia.
To defend ourselves against these comments can I say that we are doing a voucher for FREE Jug of Sangria, Beer or bottle of wine for a meal of 2! So you can have 2 home made lasagnes and a bottle of quality Patagonia house wine all in, for 2 people, for less than 18 euro! Even the all you can eat meat feast includes the free offer, so you can eat as much as you want, comes with Chips or jacket potato with normal or garlic Mayo included for 20 euro for 2 people including Jug of Beer, Sangria or bottle of wine. And yes additional sauces are 1 euro more, but they are home made and its quite a big "dollop" to be fair. This is clearly marked in the menu. Ketchup is free. We don't claim to be the cheapest, but a coffee starts form 1 euro. There are plenty of places on the urb that charge more! Unfortunately I think there is a lot of "undercover" people/competitors here moaning at each other which is a shame and cheapening La Marina. No wonder some people have recommended Gusto's in Benihofer. Its a long drive and they are more expensive then most places in La Marina. However its true to say you get what you pay for!
By the way, you can pick up a Patagonia Voucher from our website, Costarider newspaper, or walk in to our either La Marina or Quesada restaurants and pick up a voucher....even if it is right before you order!!

Thank you Rojos, we came in for Sunday lunch and it was lovey. We will definitely be back to try out more of the food from your new Chef, but first must try some of the other suggestions. See you again very soon.

I have been to 999 pizza and it sucks.
Pre-made buns and food far from acceptable.
Pity.
Ps.... whenever did the argentinians get famous for their pizzas?...
