We would just like to say thanks to all that attended Rojos last night for an evening with Tom Marr, it was a great success, despite the very aggressive interruption from one of the local neighbour’s at 21:30, who burst into the bar complaining that all the bars in Consum square were illegally built. This was then followed, 5 minutes later, by a visit from the local police who demanded that we stop Tom performing, or face an on the spot fine. However the night continued with music from Tom, via the bar’s internal CD player. It was great to see the Dunkirk spirit from the Brits, who refused to be intimidated and carried on enjoying the evening, despite the attempts by a tiny minority of people to ruin it for everyone.

It was like history repeating itself, as this happened almost three years ago when Rojos a birthday night for me, with the proceeds going to the charity I support. Fortunately on that occasion the singer carried on singing without his microphone and had an acoustic guitar.
We had been invited to Rojos by the couple, one of which was celebrating his 82nd birthday and we arrived as a very irate gentleman was shouting at the owner, then the police arrived and Tommy Marr has to stop singing and it was only 9.45pm. It wasn't as if he was singing loud, it was just like background music.
But, the evening carried on by the owners putting on Tommy Marrs CD and playing through their sound system ....... so what was the difference??

A great shame indeed. But how come the local police don't show any ID ON THERE UNIFORM? A member of the Public has the right to know who they are dealing with? Or don't we? It means that if we feel intimidated at the time we can not refer that officer to his Superintendent, because of no ID number or name.

Hello Rojos, I don't know if you have seen my posting below under the title,
I think the live music complaints are about to flood ASL.
I did not name you in case it caused you any more problems, but I agree with you about the evening. I wonder if this irate person claiming all bars in Consum area are illegal is so squeeky clean ? In fact the young lady owner who was verbally abused in front of lots of witnesses has a good case for issuing a Denuncia against the person concerned.

The more you think about it the stranger the story gets. Why did this person have a go at Rojos last night? After all they do not usually have any entertainment on? There are other bars all within a close proximity that all have fairly regular nights of entertainment, yet this person does not go into them and verbally abuse them and then call in the the local Police. Keeping in the back of our minds that there has been a fair amount of bad blood between a couple of bars in that area my money is on it being a put up job, nod nod, wink wink. Plus it is about time that the local police were given a little training on Public Relations. The strangest thing of all that the singer on last night is one of the Artistes who does not turn his music up to full volume, so the sound outside was much lower than the other local bars.

thank you linda for your support, it was good to see you again in Rojos sorry I could not spend much time talking to you and Ronnie but as you know other things were going on. It still turned out to be a great evening and I look forward to seeing you again.

You are just trying to open yet another can of worms ......... everyone has forgotten and moved on .... so you do the same.

Over the past couple of months the majority of the bars and restaurants in consum square have worked together and organised some brilliant fiestas, bringing people into the area and helping the revenue to all.

Thanks for your support and advice, but when in Spain I guess the Police, like everywhere else, have to be listened to, even if we don't agree.

well it is cowboy country over here when it comes to justice and victimisation . don't remember this ever happening to a Spanish bar.
at least back in the UK there are channels to go through where you have half a chance for some retribution over here no chance, from bars crime,, housing demolition , ,fingers in the till,, and the Valencia Government are the worst of a bad lot,,if the government got there act together the economy could be booming with millions more vistors/potential residents/property buyers,,,they just fail to see it,,it's the norm over here.
