Election Voting Papers

Have others received their election voting papers yet? I did go down and register when they were asking people to do so.

I asked Jeff this question, on the la Marina Forum a few days ago,
He said that if you didn't receive your card, you could still vote on Sunday by taking your passport and your Residentia (the piece of green paper that replaced the residential) to the polling station on Sunday, as long as you are on the voting list.
If you wish to verify you are on the voting list, he has a copy in the mini council office, if that is closed the PIPN office at 107 Calle Madrid have a copy and they are open everyday this week until 18.00.
Hope that is helpful.

I also have received no voting papers. Went in and made sure we were registered a while back. Smells a little of skulduggery to me? Are they trying to put off the British votores by this not sending out papers?

Just a thought. Is your Padron ok? Has it been up dated? EU citizens living as permanent residents of Spain should renew registration every five years (as must Spanish nationals who are resident in Spain).
As a foreigner, you can vote in Spain's municipal elections if you are a citizen of the European Union AND registered on the padrĂ³n in your local municipality.
But you could, as Alan wrote, check if you are on the voting list.
I hope many people will go and vote for the party they believe is best for them. Here in Spain your vote is for one party and not for one person.
Good luck! I hope you are on the voting list.

Ian
For a change I don't think any skullduggery, but the Correos have had a bit of a problem with strikes, probably this has held up quite a bit of post, I have spoken to people who received theirs a couple of weeks ago, Hence the reason I asked jeff on La Marina Forum, and was told the alternative way was to take your passport (which you have to take anyway) and your green paper (which replaced the European Residentia) to the voting station, but of course still have to make sure you are on the list so a visit to Jeff`,s office or PIPN office will let you know.
Also just read a comment from Samantha that if you are going to the PIPN shin dig tomorrow evening you can collect your voting form and envelope (if you are an ex-pat, and are voting PIPN, you only need the white one). Don't forget DO NOT MARK THE PAPER; IF YOU DO IT WILL BECOME A SPOILT ONE; AND WILL NOT COUNT.

Well that has shaken me a bit. Samantha has just informed me that I am now not on the new list that has just come out? But confirms that I was on the old list. Wonder how many others have recently been removed????

And you are sure your Padron is ok? If so something else must be wrong.

I wish I COULD vote! Lived here twelve years, got residencia, pay tax to Hacienda, on the Padron (and renewed it last year when asked to), paid the Suma, etc etc. What's the only thing I ain't got? You're right - a voting card!! Always had them for previous elections.
And, you won't believe it, but there is a party I really fancied voting for this time.
Never mind, I'll hope they get in without my help. Funny old world, eh? !!!

Geoff,
Shame you didn't read this or the other Foeums before, You do not have to have your voting card , You just have to be sure you are the voting register, you could of checked that in the mini town hall, the mini councilors office or the police station with Mr Herrera, or the pipn head office. Unfortunately none of this will be available tomorrow.

Thanks Alan, appreciate your comments, but why should I have to check???
My name WAS on the register, and I haven't asked for it to be removed, or been asked whether I WANT it removed, or been informed that it is being removed. All I have done is gone to the bother of renewing my Padron when asked to do so!!
Geoff.

I wholeheartedly second your sentiments Geoff. I to after being here years having also bothered to re register find it hard to understand what the heck they are up to.

Geoff and Ian ,
You both appeared to have done all what was asked of you to be able to vote in the Municipal Elections on the 24th May, But someone or something has stopped you from doing so. A lot more people may not find out until tomorrow that they also have been stopped from their right to vote.
It may be that you should think of taking things further, If so I think that the first place to go to would be the Junta Electoral, whom Jeff states have everything to do with the election.
Although this may seem extreme,if it looks that many people lost the right to vote, illegally we could be ruled for 4 years by people who had no right to have been voted into power.
