Hi does anyone know if the children wear school uniform and the hours of school? do they stay for lunch at school or finish early, when I lived in Tenerife years ago im sure I remember my daughter finishing school before lunch.....
Hi San Fulgencio school does not have a school uniform and the hours are 9 - 1 September and June the 9 - 5 the rest of the year .

The local school tried to bring in school uniform a year ago but didn't really have the support of the majority of parents. The clothing had to have the school logo and cost a fortune from the local retailers. Most parents just said no. A few did send their children with a form of school uniform but gradually went back to normal clothes over time.
When the headmasters family children didn't wear the proposed uniform, it really didn't have much of a chance of being adopted by all families.
thanks David, just wondered, and I know I have asked this before....but have so much to think about....Is the local school within walking distance? I am so worried about my youngest daughter getting on a bus on her own! or if its not, can I get a bus with her (not the school bus).........and which area is it in?????
Done some research, know where the school is now, and that its not within walking distance.....I am sure I can get a bus with my daughter to settle her in before I put her on the 'school bus'. I suppose its best just to wait until I get there to find this all out, just getting a bit nervous now what with only 7 weeks to go!
Hi Karen, not knowing where you live, it's difficult to say if you are in walking distance of the school, but assuming you are on the urb, the answer is NO. The school has a number of buses that collect/return the children and you would need to talk to the school to arrange the best bus stop for you. Each bus has a 'minder' so don't worry about security etc. Under a certain age, you must be at the bus stop to collect your child and if you are late you get a phone call and a yellow card. Don't be late twice as two yellow cards is a serious offense. A lot of parents have a backup where someone is pre-authorised to take the child from the bus should they not be there.
Don't worry - it's a great time-saver for you, the kids love the buses, the minder is great with the kids.
Last point - no, you can't get on the school bus with her.

Tinkerbell, do they really stay at school until 5 or is that a mistake? that's a long day for them.
Between 1st October and 1st June the hours for the junior school are 9 til 5. They cannot take packed lunched but do take what is called "Almuerzo" which is our equivalent of "elevenses". Lunch is a hot three course meal. You can take your child out of school for lunch if you want to but they must be back for 3pm.

Hi, the school hours are for 3 to 11 year olds. When they go to secondary school, the school day starts just after 8am and finishes between 1.10 and 3.10 according to the day and year the child is in. School dinners are only for junior school up to the age of 11. My partners grandchildren go to La Marina junior school and they pay between 80 and 95 Euros a month for dinners. Hope this helps!!
