Dress code

We had very nice drinks and tapas at Tia Maria this morning - pleasant staff, good food, clean and very reasonable prices. I did notice at one of the bars further along there was a "gentleman" sitting in a crowd enjoying his beer in the sunshine, but like a growing number of visitors to our area (sorry, but I've been here long enough to recognise residents from visitors) he just had to pull off his shirt - and it wasn't a pretty sight, I can tell you, ladies! I know some of the bars try to make a ruling about the wearing of shirts but wouldn't it be nice if these "visitors" had a little good sense and kept their shirts on while at an eating establishment.

You're probably right, Anonymous, I think it is mainly the English. I was trying to be politically correct and also trying to find out if other people felt the same as me.

I know how you feel. Why do a lot of English men feel they have to peel off. I know we're very relaxed here, that's a lot of the beauty of the place but horrible vests and naked torsos don't do it for me

But that's like me saying why do people smoke, it's disgusting. Why do people get so drunk they can't stand, because they do. Why do people shout at people because they do. Why do people want to take there top off, because they do. It's life.

I had the same experience last year when on the beach, I was sitting having a bear at one of the bars an a girl sat at one of the tables topless. Now I am all for topless girls but I felt very uncomfortable as it was totally out of place.

Andi, it's just my opinion. I Have a large family including 10 grandkids ages ranging from 20 to 26. (Yep, busy kids). We try to have good manners and respect other people. I just don't like men without shirts, apart from the beach, garden or bedroom, not to my taste. I also find mobliles going of in restaurants abominable, and my grandkids know when we go out to eat with grandma TURN IT OFF. Live and let live but try and have good manners, as there might be a moaning old grandma about x

Ohh I'm not moaning. I understand what your saying because everyone is different. I live my life along the rules of, as long as nothing is affecting me or stopping me live my life then I get on with things. I may not like things or the way people go about it but there's nothing I can do.

Yeahh to be honest its abit uncomfotable sometimes but they're here on holiday to relax and catch some sun, fair enough, if it's inside a restuarant its not that nice to look at but if its outside on a sunny day just shrug and ignore it, it's just life.. x
