Noise at the Bars
I have been a “lurker” I think you call it on here for quite some time, unfortunately my first ever post is about the consum bars.
Sorry to post this on here, however it does look like the one forum that some of the Bar owners use.
Last night the problem with noise from the bars on the Consum shopping area was way above any legal limit. We had to keep all our doors and windows shut in order to hear our own TV, let alone think about getting any sleep.
When we took our dog for a walk towards the bars I was amazed to find, that the Irish bar had the doors open, as did the Hog’s Head, and the George had some type of “thump thump” machine, yet again with the doors open, and here was I thinking that after god knows how many years of sufferance, the Police were going to visit and crack down. Well not last night.
Late night bars should be moved to the edge of the urb, Bars in amongst homes should be forced to stop all noise at Midnight, some of us would like a normal night’s sleep.
LETS HEAR WHAT THE BARS HAVE TO SAY as they are now named and the hogs is one that says it will stand up and be counted as in its past posts
So does no one pay attention to anything on here. All you LOT who just moaned about the music and bars have been advised to ring the local patrol car when there's a noise or disruption going on in bars instead of moaning on here. So you LOT take no notice of this number but still post on here. Yes you LOT
So much for Jeff and his great ideas, whats the point in phoning the police to do something about the problem and they do not bother to respond.
Complaints of noise from pubs,by one person will be low on the list of priorities,If it was bad how many people phoned the police and how many of those phoned again and again.

If you are not happy with the service you get talk to our new police chief,if that doesnt satisfy you talk to the Major,if he doesnt satisfy you take out a denouncia against the police,But for heavens sake stop trying to ruin this web site. trolls are appearing out of every corner now
I take it that you are not aware of the me me me me syndrome.
It is normally used by Parents of Children aged between two and three,who start to insist on having everything they see and normally followed by a tantrum,in short ...If I want something I am going to scream and throw tantrums until I get it.
Sorry Samantha you must have been mistaken my doors & windows were shut from 9.30pm I know this because I personaly shut them, We observed the Policia Local Regularly patroling the area outside our bar from approx 10pm then at 11pm 3 officers were patrolling on foot outside the 3 bars in question, I can't speak for the other bars, however if my music was above the legal level I think at least 1 of the 3 officers on foot would have come into my bar & told us to turn the music down or indeed off they did not come into my bar at all. This forum has Repeatedly named us & given the immpresion that we have created the noise problem, let me say this WE ARE NOT THE PROBLEM IN THE CONSUM AREA, & if you don't beleive me ask the councilers that have been to my bar & sat & listened for themselves, & before you say it no we don't get any Preferential treatment from the police or the town hall, we just take our responsabilty to noise in the area seriously, and if your in any doubt about that I suggest you or anyone else for that matter come and see me.
Hear Hear To Paul & Hogs Head I wasn't in last night so can’t comment but anytime I have been in I can tell you for certain that the doors and windows(much to my annoyance) is closed when the entertainment starts. And that he regularly goes out to check the noise himself.
Now I thought this thread was finished when I copied Jeff's blog and the mobile number for the local police. Use it or shut up and if as above there were 3 police outside and none were inside you can take it as read that the noise from that particular bar was OK. Please if you are annoyed by noise phone that’s what you've been told to do DO IT & DO IT AGAIN or else I am going to assume that there is some kind of witch hunt against the bars and it is totally unnecessary
I will actually back Paul (from the Hogs Head) in this. I was actually in his bar last night and I can confirm that the door(s) were closed at all times (except when people were entering and leaving!!). There was a constant police presence last night, and I personally saw 3 of them enter a neighbouring bar to discuss something with them (I will not speculate that it was about the noise or anything as I do not know the actual reason). I will say that when we arrived we noticed how much noise there was, but it was only as we got nearer that we noticed it was mainly coming from one of the neighbouring bars, and was mainly people on the terrace talking (very loudly). As I say, I can only comment on what I witnessed, but I do think it's very unfair when particular bars are mentioned, when it is not them causing the problem.
It is good that one bar has replied and that a couple of you defend the bar as it was getting all one sided and and making the area look bad, If it was that bad I am sure the police would have done something ? do the m and g club bought/ live next door to the bars or are they from the old villas (that were built before the bars)
Enough is enough now if you want to Complain about NOISE or any other in this matter.
You need to go down and See Jeff.
It is great being able to voice an oppinion but no one here can make any legal challenges to make any effect.

We have just come back from a great night at the Hogs Head. Lovely food and great entertainment with Andy Jones. The landlord was in and out all night checking the music level. If anyone has cause to moan tonight then they must be the Victor Meldrews of La Marina. We walked up Calle Monacco and we could hardly hear anything.

I just thank God I have got an old age pension and don't have to depend on making a living by running a local bar. It seems to me that a lot of people don't like to hear people enjoying themselves. If all the bars closed down in la Marina would you moaning lot be happy then, you would probably be sat on your terraces bending your neighbours ear's about your aches and pains. If you can't beat em!, join them. Music and laughter is the best cure for the blues. OK so you can't go to bed so early two nights a week, there are lots of people six foot under who would like to be in your place. Lighten up a bit and think yourselves lucky you have your health.
And yes paul you will see us again we are booked to see Woody next saturday and Mr Bojangles the saturday after, Two great entertainers.

I hear what you say, however I think you have youe sums wrong, it's not 2 nights a week the locals on complaining about, it's the fact that the bars make noise way past midnight 7 , yes 7 nights a week
My God can the Ex-Pat not do with out a bar on the door step, and a drink in their hand every night of the week.
I am sure a lot of us would live without bars and would end up reading books or inviting friends over for a chat, remember the good old days when drink was not the first thing on peoples minds.
Anonymous I do not need a bar on my door step, if I want a drink I can have one at home. What myself and my husband enjoy is a good entertainer and being able to have a dance, that is very good exercise and helps keep you fit. As for having people around for drinks , we sold a business, to come out to Spain,where we were waiting on people day in day out, so now it is our turn to be waited on. It does not make us alcoholics. You cannot expect to live in a built up area and expect the quiet of the countryside.

I dont comment on this site very often,but on this occasion I can't help myself and guess what my comment is about the noise issue.
I would like to say that if anyone has a problem with the HOGS HEAD I know personally that they make every effort to keep the noise under control and they do a good job of it,how any one can complain about noise from the HOGS HEAD I will never know,they cannot do more than they are doing,the comments make me think that the people complaining must have an agenda,may be other jealous bar owners that dont get as many customers,it certainly is not about the noise coming from the bar.I hate noisy bars especially if it is late and I have been known to ring the police after one bar was playing music at 2-15 am and they were there with in 5 minutes and the noise stopped,so stop complaining and call the police,it worked for me...
Trevor I agree with you entirely. We have been at the Hogs head for quite a number of saturdays and it is a shame to see Paul so worried about the noise. He is in and out all night even going across the road to listen to hear if the music is too loud. What a way to have to make a living. I feel very sorry for them as they try so hard to make a go of it and all they get is hassle. It does make you wonder if it is jealousy from other bars. Take heart the Hogs Head there are some of us who appreciate what you are doing and are with you all the way.
Its just an idea, but why not put up a webcam outside the Hogs Head? I will post the link on the site so that people can login at any time to see what is going on and prove what the situation is with regarding noise or the lack of it.

That is a bloody excellent idea. Not just because it's a very viable option but also there could be some kind of business venture regarding a webcam.
I think what I might do to shut golfer,syd, and who ever else up regarding the noise of bars is ..... I might do abit of recording outside bars as I have a built in decibel noise reader on my phone. Put it this way. Just sitting in my front romm with TV on at a average noise the decibel reading is just under 61db

I feel I have to reply to the lurker if you had to keep your doors and windows closed it had nothing to do with the HOGS HEAD and it is not illegal to have your doors open,there is only one house with in 50m of the Hogs Head and even if that is your house I do not believe that the level of noise would have effected you, the doors of the HOGS HEAD are closed before 11 p.m so what you are going on about I just dont know if you want perfect quiet before that time may I suggest you move in to a monastary
I agree with you 100% Samantha its time it stops. I for one was hopping that Jeff would do something about it but it seems that he has just fallen in line with everyone else and will do nothing. We seem to be on our own with this problem.
