Charity shop

I was told today, that the charity below the laundrette, has now got a new manager the lady that used to be in the k9 shop ( and we nearly all know what happened there ) also the staff that were in the shop from day one two days a week , have been told that there job is no longer there, I think that this is so unfair as I used to go into the shop and the two lady's were lovely and so very helpful. What's going on there

La Marina

This is what's going on....
The shop needs to have a manager. Pauline has been asked to manage the shop, arrange fundraisers for the shop that supports families in La Marina / San Fulgencio and food parcels to caritas, Red Cross and The EMAUS children's home. There has to be someone at the shop at least 4 days a week sorting clothes, pricing stuff and just in general dealing with things.
When the volunteers were informed of this on Saturday there was disagreements and some concerns raised. What ever has gone on at K9 or, supposedly gone on that is neither here or there. There seems to be a personal problem with the staff and new manager.
Let me remind you all, Impact charity has handed out over €50,000 euros in just under 5 years to other charities other groups. If people want to now bring up a problem with a new manager in the shop the. That's fine, it won't effect me, or anyone else but the families the food goes too, donations to EMAUS throughout this year and so on. This is a personal problem between these volunteers who have done a good job.
At present impact charity is supporting Pets in Spain, Finca Lucendum and dealing with the feral cats. So I say this, if this personal problem keeps causing trouble, let them deal with it personally.
That's what it basically comes down too.

I would also like too add, these two ladies resigned along with another lady. No one was asked to leave. This is a personally problem between them people.

I think you have got this so wrong I do know that the key holder did not leave she was also under some misunderstanding with the head and said that she still wanted to work and then was told she wasn't wanted

Commented Swan in La Marina 2013-02-12 12:57:16 UTC

My last comment Mr Swan.
I received a phone call Sunday afternoon informing me they were not going to work there anymore. I accepted this verbal agreement over the phone.
I was then Informed yesterday that these two were coming back to work in the shop, by that time I had already arranged other volunteers. So that's that.
The fact is this is a personal problem
I will not reply anymore as its a waste of time. They did a good job in what they were doing and we all appreciate that. If people can't aside there personal issues that not my problem.

Christine.

If you want to talk me about this I suggest you come to the shop and see me because all this will do is harm Pets in Spain, Finca lucendum, the feral pet program, EMAUS and the food for the needy.
It's that simple.

Commented IMPACT CHARITY in La Marina 2013-02-12 13:11:34 UTC

I think the comments made by swan are nasty .Yet again on this forum you get people like him or her saying things that may cause harm to a charity or business . if you have something to say go in and talk to the charity shop don't hide behind this forum .

Commented Mick in La Marina 2013-02-12 13:45:46 UTC

It was not nasty at all . i have as much right as anyone else to voice my opinion, and as far as I was told there was not any issue with the lady's. and as you were saying a personal thing going on well I was not aware of this so I would like to say this was not in any way nasty and I am not a nasty man I was simply voicing my opinion.

Commented Swan in La Marina 2013-02-12 14:23:35 UTC

Who is hiding I am not i always give loads to the charity and will always do this so don't call me nasty nick.

I remembered that there was something on the forum last year regarding Impact Charity and K9. In a search on the forum there are numerous disputed posts regarding a donation from Impact Charity to K9 for rescued puppies, including this final paragraph on the subject from Impact Charity, a lady called Christine wrote":
"We will be making arrangements to collect this donation back from K9 and I will not be responding to any comments regarding this as it will be dealt with through Impact Charity's solicitor".
Is this the same Christine at Impact Charity who posted today that the previous manager of the K9 shop, a lady called Pauline, is  now to be the new manager of the Impact Charity shop?

Commented Roger in La Marina 2013-02-13 08:34:28 UTC

Roger.

I will leave it at this. Impact charity made a donation to K9 last summer of €100. The dispute has been resolved a long time ago.
Let me clear this up, Pauline was not at K9 then and has not been involved with them for nearly 16 months. So I hope that answers your questions.
I will say this one last time, if anyone needs any information then pop in to the shops and ask.
Thank you.

You will always get problems with volunteer staff when someone else takes over. People seem to want to be in charge but not do the work that goes with it. Always a case of too many chiefs and not enough Indians. believe me being in charge of a Charity shop is not as glamorous as it sounds. It takes some doing to please everyone. Good luck Pauline.

Commented Caroline in La Marina 2013-02-13 15:31:28 UTC

Eve,
Their are no problems with Pauline, she is brilliant in my opinion, wished she did charity work for me!

Commented Friendlyviking in La Marina 2013-02-13 17:07:12 UTC

Friendly viking i am not aware that I have said there is anything wrong with Pauline so what are you going on about. I took over the SAT Shop about 20months ago and I had a few problems with volunteers so I know what it is like. I know Pauline is capable of running the shop - I do not need convincing, so I do not understand where you are coming from.

Commented Caroline in La Marina 2013-02-13 19:38:19 UTC

Eve,
That ruler over my fingers hurt!!!!!!
Bye the way did I say that you had said something?
I thought I was agreeing with you?

How many reputations have been ruined by the words "I was told today" Remember it takes two to gossip - one to do the telling and one to do the listening.

Good luck to Pauline in her new role. She is a tireless worker for charity and herself and her husband make many donations themselves. Nobody told me I have seen them in action. .

ruined by the words "I was told today" well these words were told, so what are you going on about get your facts straight before making any comments please. No one is saying that the manager wont make a good job???????????? As all the ladies do just that without them putting there time and effort in there would be no charity shop, And it is all for a great cause,

Commented Swan in La Marina 2013-02-14 10:47:44 UTC

I am a regular visitor to the different charity shops on La Marina urbanisation. Over the past couple of years I have noticed that one lady named Pauline has been behind the counter in almost all of them! It does make me wonder why she goes from one charity to another!

How many reputations have been ruined by the words "I was told today, well I was told today:
A teenager living on La Marina comes home from school with a writing assignment. He asks his father for help. "Dad, can you tell me the difference between potential
and reality?" His father looks up thoughtfully, and then says,"I'll
display it to you. Go ask your mother if she would sleep with Robert
Redford for a million dollars. Then go ask your sister if she would Sleep
with Brad Pitt for a million dollars. Then come back here and tell me what
you've learned." The kid is puzzled, but he decides to see if he can
figure out what his father means. He asks his mother," Mom, if someone
gave you a million dollars, would you sleep with Robert Redford?"
His mother looks around slyly, and then with a little smile on her face says,"
Don't tell your father, but, yes, I would." Then he goes up to his
sister's room and asks her," Sis, if someone gave you a million dollars,
would you sleep with Brad Pitt?" His sister looks up and says," Omigod!
Definitly!" The kid goes back to his father and says," Dad, I think I've
figured it out. Potentially, we are sitting on two million bucks, but in
reality, we are living with a couple of whores."
I now leave it to you to figure out which family this is.

Great stuff Robert - we need some light heartedness up here, although some people do not think you should post things like this up here. But I say keep up the good work. I like to see some jokes up here

i like a good joke sly. agree it needs a bit of funn up here - it gets too serious

Commented Henry in La Marina 2013-02-15 13:34:09 UTC

Pauline and Peter Prior took a short time to push their way into the K9 club committee. Peter Prior was very soon chairing all the committee meetings. Between them they rigged the AGM in 2011 and forced out long term committee members. Shortly after this all the then K9 committee members resigned. Watch your back Christine!

Commented Sue in La Marina 2013-02-15 16:54:08 UTC

Sue,
I have never read so much rubbish in all of my life, as your comments above.
Anyone who knows anything about "the K9 problems" will know that those problems were administration and accounting problems, not retail which was Paulines responsibility at that time!
Peter and Pauline are wonderful people and no- one at Impact has anything to worry about.
If I were running a charity the Priors would be the first people I would hope to attract.

Commented Friendlyviking in La Marina 2013-02-16 08:20:34 UTC

When your main income comes from a retail shop, how is that NOT part of the admin and money/accounting issue?

Commented janineb in La Marina 2013-02-16 08:55:18 UTC

I am sat here in England just browsing and chilling and saw this " A Spanish Life_Quesada " and thought, " I'll have a go at this"
I have a couple of places on La Marina and thought it may be interesting to listen to the local comments. I am glad I did.I was a bit down because my son just lost at football.I had just finished reading the Horse Meat jokes (thanks to Henry) and thought that it would take something special to make me laugh any more. Then I came across Sue's comments and I can only echo Friendlyviking's comment for I too have never read so much rubbish in all of my life.PETER and PAULINE PRIOR. How misguided are you Sue? LOL
I shall continue reading such comments whenever I am in need of a smile. Thanks again Sue for making me laugh. Henry- You'll have to try harder!!! Steve and Cath

I have no idea what has gone on in this charity shop, but myself have misgivings about the management, as I was set on along with another friend, turned up for the alloted shift, in the rain, and feeling unwell, to be told my services nor those of my friend where required. Perhaps it would have been the correct procedure to give me a ring to tell me, and not let me turn up and turned away.
Some sort of communication is needed here.
Plus the two ladies that hve supposedly left, is not what heard, I was told they just, like myself, for no good reason, told their services where no longer required.

Commented Senora Alto in La Marina 2013-02-17 08:55:57 UTC

Dear dear me.

Let me clear this up personally. On Monday after finishing work early morning with a electrician I had to go up to the shop and open it as there was no volunteers. About mid afternoon I was paid a visit by a lady who had worked in there. She told me to pass the message on that they were coming back to work in the shop Wednesday morning. I passed this message on. This is the same lady who had decided to resign on the Sunday. So, the message was passed on and phone calls were made that afternoon.
So, yes people were told of the situation.
I will also make this point, in the past 4 day from Pauline taking over as manager more stuff has come in to that shop than the previous 6-8 weeks.

I will also like to add this, the ladies who started this off by telling "swan" what had supposedly gone on and why he started this thread off, are very very keen Pets In Spain followers and do a lot for them, all your doing is ruining possible donations to them next month. So you go ahead keep saying what your saying because the only people who will suffer is, Pets in Spain, Finca Lucendum, the Feral Cats, EMAUS, Food for the Needy..
So before anyone opens there mouth and wants to say anything just think, because I know half of the people who have started this crap are keen followers of Pets in Spain and the feral cat neutering.

It appears that at least once a year, this forum indulges in a pop at charities,I do not know why this occurs,as this is the only forum anything like this seems to appear.
For the sake of all charities please stop this moaning about who does what and who to,it does get boring, unfortunately it does stop peol¡ple giving time and money to help the less fortunate.I for one have temporarily stopped donating to charities over here, and have reverted to my main charity GOSH in England. All this because their are so many moans about how and who runs these local charities, even I begin to wonder just what is going on.Please give it a break,In fact very soon we can all start on the annual pub and restaurant noise debate,.

Commented Alan in La Marina 2013-02-17 10:24:11 UTC

Andi, reading through all the posts on this subject it is quite clear that it was started because Impact charity took on a new shop manager, no other charity needed to be dragged into this. The most harm done to any of the charities is probably as a result of your most recent post. My advice to you is do the same as the other charities- DONT GO ON LOCAL FORUMS to say anything about any other charity!

Commented Roger in La Marina 2013-02-17 12:01:42 UTC

Alan,
BRAVO!
About the most sensible thing anyone has said on this Impact Shop Management Problem!

Commented Friendlyviking in La Marina 2013-02-17 13:25:21 UTC

As I said to Andy the other day, no good deed ever goes unpunished. I didn't intend to post on this but isn't it time we started praising those who give so much of their time in helping good causes instead of constantly having a moan. I was always taught if you cannot say anything good about someone, then don't say anything at all.

So, to all those who give their time - well done.

Commented Carol G in La Marina 2013-02-17 14:12:20 UTC

If you dont like being a volunteer under the new management "leave on Sunday but I will come back on Wednesday" maybe you should put the reasons on here, then we can all make our own minds up as too if the management are right or you are,but things go both ways you want to work there/you now dont want to work there, they did want you to work there/they dont want you to work there BUT its there shop not yours LETS HAVE ALL THE FACTS without the gossip and back biting so that there is no more harm done to the charity's around and connected to the area
