Driving and Crime Prevention

The crazy season has started. There are many hoildaymakers in hire cars on the roads driving at ridiculously low speeds around the urbanisations not using their mirrors as they look out of the car windows completely oblivious of any other vehicles. And then there are others driving at high speed over cross roads ignoring pedestrian crossings and Stop signs at cross roads. Burglaries have also been reported according to the La Marina Info web site's Crime Prevention page which has been updated with some good tips and asking people to look out for elderly neighbours: www.lamarina.info

Roger,
what do you mean is ridiculously low speed? 40 km/h? I have personally noticed that if you try to keep 40 km/h and follow the speed signs in many drivers opinion you are driving to slow.

No reindeer keeper, just recently I've been behind cars that are actually at a crawl, probably less than 5kph looking out of the windows, possibly lost, or perhaps they think they are on a safari! One actually stopped in the middle of the road straddling the middle white line. I did not sound my horn and even when I passed them on the inside they did not realise I was there. Please everyone be very carefull and watch out for unexpected moves by other drivers that do not know the roads.

Roger,
I agree with you. People behaving like you describe should not sit behind the wheel in a car. Could be bandits looking for a special place or people with drinking problems doing the best they can to avoid an accident whilst trying to find their way home. Or tourists finding it extremely difficult to drive on the right side. A police matter maybe?
