Are you legal and paying tax in spain or are you another person working the system. Fed up with people advertising on these site who dont pay tax. Think the administrator should only allow you to advertise your business free if you can prove who you are and are paying stamp in this country. And yes i am legal and paying tax and have for 10 years

I thoroughly agree with Tinkerbell on this one, and what annoys me even more is that not only are there people avoiding paying the corresponding tax and social security, a lot of those of working age had the nerve to complain when the Valencian government stopped providing free health care services to them!!! One pathetic excuse I heard was that 'I buy things, I shop, I therefore pay tax.' Well, er, excuse me but so do I, and I pay tax and SS as well!!! I don't know why some people think they can work the system yet help themselves to free public services, while others abide by the law - some of us are even taxed to the hilt for doing so - €250+ social security, 15% personal tax and 30% company tax for the privilege of running my own business!!! I don't mean to sound nasty to my fellow countrypeople, but I've been here for twenty-five years and I've been legal since day one. We all choose to come and live here and, as such, there are laws which must be abided by - nobody is exempt :)

I cannot understand, some comments made oh here.
The chances are that the person offering her services for caring for Dogs,is not in the system to pay tax,but in all fairness,I shouldnt think she would make enough money to have to pay it anyway,as for the health cover,if she is not a pensioner chances are she is not entitled to any cover, unless she buys it,and that would be at least as much as self employed stamp anyway.
What i dont understand is why the bee in the bonnet, about this particular person, when stacks of other advertisers have not had a word said about them.
Finally, the old phrase that starts 'people in glass houses' may well apply,if you have ever had work done yourself, and got someone to do it without getting an invoice, and paying in cash, because if you ever have(I would lay odds, that most people have)You would of helpèd the non tax payer to break the law, mainly because it was a bit cheaper than a fully qualified person doing everything legal and declaring the full price to the tax authorities
If you are realistic, the Spanish authorities must know what is going on,and as time passes, will close some of the loopholes that allow it to happen,
leave them to do their job,but if you have proof of tax evasion, then if you feel as angry as you write, inform the authorities

ALAN - I most strongly agree with what you have said. I also do not understand why Pauline is being picked on up here. She has done nothing wrong. She is probably just trying to get a small income with doing something that she loves and that's looking after dogs. Also at the same time a lot of people surely would be glad of her service when they go on holiday. So, all you moaners, go and pick on somebody else and leave her alone!

SHELLEY - Please do not swear on this site - even if you cannot spell the word, or your posting will be deleted !

This is a very important subject and goes right to the core of expats and their continuing life in Spain. I do not condone tax evasion because, like Tinkerbell and Shelley I know how difficult it is to make enough money to enable me to pay my taxes and social security payments. I would like to know how councillor Jeff feels about this subject. Is it something that he feels strongly about?

Fortunately, I have very little time and less inclination to get involved with the back stabbing that prevails on, 'A Spanish Life - La Marina. Sadly, I feel that it is predominantly the 'Brits' who are guilty of this. Do we not have better things to do? If it is constructive, fine but lets get off each others backs and support each other. It is difficult enough as it is. I respectfully suggest that our time would be better spent getting to grips with our own language (judging by the grammatical & spelling errors I have seen)before tackling the Spanish language !! Maybe a visit to spell checker would be advisable.Good luck to you all who are striving to survive over here.It is inconceivable how people can manage to pay the 250+ euros per month and other expenses if their income is far less. If you cannot comment positively then please do not comment.

Alan I like your comment about this person probably not making enough money to pay into the system. I too have not been making enough money to survive for the last few years but i still have to pay 250 euros per month plus tax never the less. This is aimed at ever person trying to milk the system and making it harder for the legal people ok she might not make much money but the intension is there otherwise they would be offering a free service. This is aimed at every illegal person not just pauline and if she is paying tax which i am sure she isnt then i apologise.

So, its ok to be self-employed and not issue an invoice now and then is it??? (as everybody does it at some point).
So what is YOUR point Shelley? Your point is...by the sounds of it that it is ok to dodge paying tax now and then as long as you are registered!!!!!

Come on!!!!!
By the way I am one of those people that can't spell properly.....Wendy

Oh my God what next. I work for SAT but I don't get paid, HONEST. Is this IT again getting on IT'S HIGH HORSE. You have all jumped to conclusions about this poor person advertising that they are willing to look after your dog in a home enviroment how does anyone know whether they are legal or not, you are just jumping to conclusions. If it were me I would treat those comments with the contempt they deserve. On this forum it seems you are guilty until proven innocent And as for making the administrators responsible for people who advertise that is totally out of order, everyone is allowed to voice their thoughts and opinions on this forum. That is the reason most of you liked it in the first place. A lot of things in this life are unfair. The rich and poor divide being the biggest problem but, at the end of the day if you have enough money to pay your bills why worry about anything else. Being happy is the main thing in life. Let other people live their lives as they want to, and, if they come unstuck, that is their problem, not yours.

Commented Caroline in La Marina 2011-09-11 23:12:09 UTC

Eve, I agree with you completely! I didn't agree with it at all. Some of the comments were nasty......no wonder the poor women hasn't replied!

Commented karen in Almoradi 2011-09-12 07:11:21 UTC

tinkerbell
your first comment on this thread definitely sounded personal,to me.
That was why I defended the original writer of the first comment
It may of been better if you had started your own thread on this subject,I for one would of supported you if you had generalised the complaint, and not tagged it on to someone elses thread.

Commented Alan in La Marina 2011-09-12 07:17:47 UTC

you are undercutting properley registered kennels who pay tax etc these are people who's way of life depends on it not just to earn a bit of pin money i am not saying that is what you are doing , if you are not paying it that is an unfair advantage over buisnesses that do.

Commented bluesboytoby in La Marina 2011-09-12 08:05:24 UTC

Alan

If i have offended anybody then i apologise next time i will start my own thread. This is aimed at every illegal person and not personally at Pauline.

There are many people out there including Pauline, Eve and myself who really enjoy volunteering our time for the animals.

Having walked the dogs for S.A.T.'s since we moved here permantely in March and adopting Sara Dos 5 weeks ago, I would be more than willing to pay for our dog to be cared for in a home environment, rather than a kennels, Pauline may earn a pittance from it, but she is taking dogs into her own home and caring for them, I for one will be contacting you Pauline.

Commented Linda Reed in La Marina 2011-09-12 10:49:32 UTC

Pauline, Linda mentioned that you are a volunteer for the animals, if you are the same Pauline that manages the K9 charity shop and you manage a business as well then good on you, I do not know how you find the time to do both. May I ask what business it is that you operate on the urb as I do not believe that you have mentioned this. Also, councillor Jeff responded to my previous post on this subject but his comments no longer appear in this thread. Can the adminstrators tell us if they have removed the councillors comments or has Jeff removed them, and why?

Commented Don in La Marina 2011-09-12 22:31:04 UTC

Hi Everyone, its Pauline here, who runs the K9 charity shop, sorry for not replying sooner but I was enjoying myself in Granada, which I paid for out of my pension.!!!! Just to let you know that the pauline who is willing to look after dogs in her home is definitely NOT me, as my own two dogs are a little bit possessive over their domain. Besides that as someone previously said I havent got the time. I am a dedicated volunteer (who also doesnt get paid) with K9 and it takes up most of my time, with running the shop, organising fun raising events etc. Hope this clarifies the situation.

Commented Pauline in La Marina 2011-09-19 16:38:29 UTC

Don - No the Administrators did not remove the Councillors comments !!

Commented Carol in La Marina 2011-09-19 20:32:14 UTC

This is getting a very boring and lengthy posting. Can we move on!!
