100 people, 1000 trees Tree Planting Event
Residents of the Costa del Sol are invited to participate in a very exciting ‘green’ project on Sunday 2nd December. Environmental charity Arboretum are asking for the support of 100 members of the local community to help plant 1000 trees and plants at their site behind the Marbella Bus Station from 12.00 until 15.00. This event will make an important contribution to the creation of their People’s Forest which currently consists of over 10,000 trees, shrubs and grasses planted on the site over the last year.
In addition to the planting, there will be workshops in the Japanese reforestation technique Nendo Dango. This fun, highly effective and sustainable system involves making “seed balls” of clay and organic matter with seeds inside to protect and nourish the seeds. As it is such an effective method, they do not need to be planted, simply thrown onto the ground and left to grow. There will also be a puppet show for the kids all about the importance of trees, so it will be an enjoyable day for all the family and the chance to get involved in a great community project.
Director of Arboretum Marbella Alejandro Orioli is hoping that the community can get behind the event so as many people as possible can get involved. “We need 100 people from the local community to get involved and help plant 1000 trees in just one day and everyone is welcome. Even if you are unable to lend a hand, we would really appreciate your support on Twitter (@ ArboretumMrblla) or Facebook (Arboretum Marbella). All you need to do is re-tweet our posts about the campaign, or tweet messages about the project using key words #100personas1000arboles.”
