Bunch of greedy ba.....s. I like the way the councillors get the Xmas bonus here and it's all in the news papers about how towns are struggling yet they get a bonus.
Also the way the local British councillor didn't deny it on his blog regarding the wage bonus, instead he decided to palm everyone of with a clip from the Spanish press reminding people about Mariano and trini for corruption in San Fulgencio.
There is no way this PIPN and PP will last the full 4 years.
As for the British MPs wanting a pay rise. That's quite funny.

In The Word newspaper today is a report with the headline: SAN FULGENCIO: INCREASED PAYMENTS TO COUNCILLORS AND ADVISORS.
The article can be read online on page 4 here: http://theword.es/wp/online-issue/

I find it hard to understand why the expats living on the urbanisations are kept in the dark and only find out about anything really serious when it is printed in the press, sometimes many months later.

Andi,
When I first started to read your input it seemed to me that you were commenting from the point of view of a "wannabe" opposition party member.
Then came the day that you decided not to continue your political line longer and prophised that the current coalition would soon fail?
A female politician subsequently resigned, however, that did not bring down the coalition!
Now a month or two later your are again saying that we look forward to a split?
When will you wishes be satisfied and what happens then?

I will be the first to admit that wen the PP-PIPN coalition came together it would be a great change and one that was needed. Over past 18 months everything that was said at the rally party's just seemed to be washed out words.
I will not claim to understand the politics game because that's what it is, is a game.
It does not take a genius to a office sit at a desk take phone calls fill out paperwork. Everyone can do that.
What this council is missing is heart and drive. You can do anything if you have heart and drive and put that across to the people and show them that. I don't mean get on Facebook, twitter ect ect. I mean get out on them streets once or twice a week, visit local businesses in person, face to face. That is not a hard thing to do. I won't sit here and slate the assistants up at the Urb office but, if there in that office day in day out surely that would give you time once or twice a week to get out on that Urb put your heart and drive into trying to make a difference.
I don't care if you have all the education in the world. If you have no heart or drive and willingness you will get no where. The 3-4 high powered councillors lack all of that.
So as for this coalition lasting, I personally believe it won't.

If you look closely or watch closely they are statements that they haven't any intention of standing next time.

Andi,
Thank you for your reply!
I cannot disagree with you on any point.
I agree that these politicians are totally anonymous to the people they claim to represent, rather than the previous government who were among the resedents on a daily basis.
Sometimes I wonder if our mayor actually exists?

Friendlyviking
I can assure you that the mayor does exist and is approachable and interested in improving the area in any way possible. He and other members of the council have recently attended two meetings with the "Association of community presidents" with members from all over the urb and is aware of most of the problems we have and is keen to hear of any other items which need attention. One current major problem for both local and national government is the shortage of funds. Our local government receives money from the Valencian region depending on the number of residents we have signed on the padron. There will shortly be an advertising campaign to try to get as many people as possible to sign on the padron to increase the funding for local projects. Anyone who owns a house or rents in the area can sign on.

Tim,
Shortly, shortly? Why the wait with this padron campaign? Is there something wrong with yesterday or tomorrow?
Congratulations on meeting the mayor and I am overjoyed to hear that after 18 months you have been lucky enough to meet him in person and are able to confirm his existance for us who are not community presidents!
