HELP - Power Surger unit not working properly after power cuts .........................

After the power cut yesterday we found that our power surge protection unit seems to have a fault. Is there anybody out there who is obviously electrically orientated who knows how to fix one of these please? It still runs perfectly ok but as soon as we plug in to the back section for protection it clicks as if it's fusing. Ian has tried to take it apart but doesn't know enough to do it. HELP.................................
