Summer Fiesta

Having attended the Fiesta on Friday, my view is that it was a big mistake to move it from the Consum Square. The stage was too small and badly positioned because unless you were stood at the very front you couldn't see anything.

There were not enough bars to cope with the reduced numbers that were there or enough seats for everybody to relax. Due to the narrow area available to use plus the space taken up by the "fairground" vans selling the usual tat, it meant everybody was penned in like sheep. Not ideal at all with people moaning about the heat and lack of places to sit down.

The acts were poor and not worth hurrying back to see. Needless to say, we haven't bothered to go back for the other two nights of "entertainment".

Hopefully the Council will realise that their decision to move the Fiesta from its ideal location at Consum Square, in return for funds being donated to their election campaign, was a poor one and move it back next year.

That's my opinion but having spoken with various other people on the matter, I know that I am not the only one who has these views.

Thank you for your time and I await your comments.

Well said Yorkshireman we came to the same conclusion last night, we felt that the new council have totally sold us out by accepting "donations" from the bars, to have the fiesta moved from Consum Sq.
Our group felt really disappointed with such a poor choice of entertainment, I know its very easy to say its free and we shouldn't moan, but the fact is, its not free, we pay for this through our suma & other local taxes & that does give us the right to complain about it. I have no doubt that due to the general poor quality & organisation of this years fiesta, it will most likely have a major impact on future tourism to La Marina, which the local economy relies on.

Perhaps the Fiesta has had its day, by the sound of it,reading the comments.Poor position, wrong location, amateur performers, not enough seats, hemmed in,heat, not enough bars,no car parking.Wow!!!!Maybe a sausage roll and chips that some bar is offering for a Euro might do the trick. Now THATshould have the punters clamouring.Egon Ronay eat your heart out.No pun intended.

Hi just been to the la marina fiesta and must say over the 3 nights i think that the sir tom jones tribute was by far the best shame about the weather, have to agree with most that consum square has the upper hand on venue? Though the bars on the strip held there prices and i thought burgundy bar was very reasonable with there drinks and food very reasonable. Loved the last act (spanish) very good looking forward to next year thank you for the diversity of acts even if the michael jackson act was very poor thank you to the council for putting on a very solid 3 days

We had a great time, the acts on day one were a bit ropey but the rolling Stones and Sir Tom and the last act were stand out and a bit unfair to be calling them amateurish. Yes it wasn't as good as the previous couple of years and I also hope it returns to consum square. But good friends, reasonable food and drink prices (esp burgundy) and good music made it just as memorable as other years! But no more blues please!

I was a customer at Burgundy during the fiesta. Great food and bar prices, the staff worked so hard. No PR machine, just honest comments
