NO SMOKING

We have now had the smoking ban in Spain in public places for nearly 6 months and would be interesting to find out how this may or may not have affected the businesses in the area. In particular we would love to hear your comments if you are a Bar/Cafe/Restaurant owner!!!! I personally have spoken to a number of these owners and the majority say it has not affected their trade and as long as the law does not incorporate the 50 metre rule from establishments, then the majority of businesses feel they can move forward.
Please have your say and express your views and comments. Regards

We haven´t been out here in Spain too long and we were used to smoking outside in the UK, so to smoke outside in the beautiful sunshine or the shade if you wish is a godsend. This is only my opinion but I think businesses in Spain will not really be affected and thats mainly due to the weather.

Obviously It was an absolute major culture shock to the Spanish public as this was part of their way of life. I know its only been in existence for 6 months but the signs are very encouraging. We have lived here for nearly 7 years and have seen many changes during this time and we had a business for 6 of these years and never thought the smoknig ban would work. Speaking to many Spanish and British businesses that know very well, the majority say that as long as you have outside space the public have no issue in having a fag on the terrace. In fact, some of the establishments have seen an increase in the numbers as more and more people prefer using these places as there is no smoke wafting across when they are having their meals. So in my opinion I think the ban has had a positive effect on businesses and health.
