Richie and comment on councils "pet" charity

Richie, you have stated above " I seem to remember that some members of the last council spent a huge amount of council paid time promoting their "pet" charity!
I assume you are referring to the stray animal collection service, whereas the previous group of councillors agreed with English Councillor Mark Lewis that something must be done to stop the indiscriminate removal, maltreatment and slaughter of collected family pet dogs and cats. In 2007 Mark Lewis persuaded the other councillors to cancel the contract this municipality had with Cereco. He worked tirelessly for people on the urbanisations and was always seen driving around the urb. Mark set up a new local council protocol to collect the strays and abandoned animals, to keep them in the local area, to keep them safe using volunteers as foster careers and privately owned kennels, an annual budget was approved to pay for any necessary vet treatment for the animals collected. He developed an animal adoption program though social media and personal contacts that resulted in every stray animal recovered either being returned to its owner or rehomed.
When this new council moved in councillor Jeff Wisznieski promised to continue with the volunteer program to help the animals, his then new personal assistant, your partner Samantha Hull was to be the manager of the program. However, once they got their feet under the table, and after weeks of stalling and lies, they decided that they did not want to do the work.  The new council reinstated a contract with Cereco from Crevillente and cancelelled the budget for veterinary fees. The Cereco vans once again come here to collect stray animals. It is a massive animal collection business, they have a contract with 40 different municipalities to collect animals. I have been to Cereco in Crevillente recently. There is no examination room, no quarantine, no exercise areas, dogs are so stressed they attack each other in the cages, dogs with visible signs of serious infections are thrown into a cage full of others. They are not in the cages for long, the incinerator in the same building is just through the adjoining doorway.
Richie, you say that you would do nothing to compromise your impartiality. Heartlessly, you just did!

Sue i'm not sure what planet you are on as at no time was Sam going to be the manager of any animal program as usual we have the ex-councillors lackeys shaking their fist and rattling swords by spreading was can only be classed as a lie as at no time was sam involved in the decision making process for the current councils decisions and certainly not as a manager for the replacement program. These people are using underhand dirty tactics to personally attack my family and myself, and i am entitled to an opinion. as are you, however this whole forum has just become a stage for faceless pathetic sniping. For me being an owner of animals icluding 3 dogs 2 of which were rescue dogs and 4 cats (all rescued) my personal opinion is that people come first, the council is millions in debt due to mismanagement of funds and we have HUMAN BEINGS eating from bins and reliant on food donations, MEN, WOMEN and CHILDREN, although i support pet charities i feel that one or two people on here seem to think its ok to fund animal rescue but let people starve. Excuse me but i see on the one hand i see people on here slating the council for doing Charity work then in the next breath extolling the virtues of councillors who used public funding to run vehicles for charity work for dogs?????????? if you feel that i am no longer impartial that is your right, but would you like it if i was to personally attack your family with baseless rumour??, i have been an animal lover since i was a boy but i also was involved in refugee relief in iraq and have seen the depths to which people will sink to survive and i do not want to see that hapen here. i will support all charities, be it animal, cancer, the childrens home or any other worthy cause, i feel that allows me to remain impartial.
Verbal slanderous, libelous or lies to attack individuals who are trying to do their best for the community is just a waste of everyones time, while people sit on the internet in nice houses with laptops and pcs, they should be sparing a thought for those in our community who have no electricity, water, home or food and stop and think how lucky they are with what they have.

Richie.
I agree with almost all you wrote.I would support charities to help people, before charities to help animals,I don't dislike animals,Like you I think humans come first in the help stakes.Unfortunately because of the comments on this forum in the past,my giving to any charity, has slowed to a crawl, not because I don't trust the people that run and help these charities, but the bickering between them, has made me think who is behind the arguing and are they gaining something out of it.
As for the Council,Personally I don't get on with Jeff,He once lied to me,and nobody gets a second chance as far as I am concerned. As for Sam,I have been to the Council offices twice since Jeff lied, each time I spoke to Sam,her advise was spot on and saved me quite a lot of time.
Unfortunately I believe that Steve who runs this site, has no intention of controlling the comments that are made on this site, and apart from one or two minor things, has insisted on the right of people to say or do whatever they like, this has never worked on any other forum I read, and in truth,as you are finding out,it doesn't work on this one.
I feel this forum runs on three main courses,Bars,Council, and Charities, until someone starts to control what is said, things will get worse,as will the wanting to live or visit La Marina Urb.

Richie, yes people are in need and finding life difficult during this economic crisis, and this has resulted in many more family pets being abandoned. We need more people like Mark Lewis that will stand up and fight for the rights of all animals day after day, week after week, year after year... He is still driving around in his own car as he has done for more than 20 years rescuing animals, finding a safe haven for them and raising funds to pay for their needs until they are rehomed. Despite all the rumourmongering and backstabbing he is still here serving the community.

Hi All
as I prepare to be shot down in flames I would like to make the following comment;

While I agree it is admirable that individuals take time and effort and invest their own money in helping stray dogs, and yes I am a dog lover, I did comment on here a few months back as to how appalled I was after a 6 week stay on quesada to discover how dogs seem to be taking over the area not only in number but with the added problems of irresponsible owners allowing their dogs while on their leads to foul the pavements and parks without picking up after them and further to stand around chatting while their dogs urinate on the walls and gates of peoples property.

Worse than that, we have the continuous barking day and night from dogs who's owners clearly have no control over them. I have considered that some of these animals may be rescue dogs and may indeed have suffered trauma neglect or ill treatment and that is truly regrettable however, rescuers should take all of this into consideration before taking these animals into their homes and onto their urbanisations. It isn't fair to inflict these consequences on unsuspecting and underserving residents.

What ever the reason for this growing problem it is without doubt a growing problem.

Moving on,having read yet another article on how a spanish woman leapt from her sixth floor balcony to her death due to unemployment and mounting debts I must admit my sympathies lie with the human race. I am not minimising the life of animals in anyway or those who put their heart and soul into caring for them but I do feel strongly that there should be some perspective here and I would prefer to see money spent on human need.

As for those owners who cant or wont control their animals, rescue dogs or otherwise, then maybe the van should come and collect the thoughtless owners, take them away and give us all a break

best regards

Debra
