Richie and comment on councils "pet" charity
Richie, you have stated above " I seem to remember that some members of the last council spent a huge amount of council paid time promoting their "pet" charity!
I assume you are referring to the stray animal collection service, whereas the previous group of councillors agreed with English Councillor Mark Lewis that something must be done to stop the indiscriminate removal, maltreatment and slaughter of collected family pet dogs and cats. In 2007 Mark Lewis persuaded the other councillors to cancel the contract this municipality had with Cereco. He worked tirelessly for people on the urbanisations and was always seen driving around the urb. Mark set up a new local council protocol to collect the strays and abandoned animals, to keep them in the local area, to keep them safe using volunteers as foster careers and privately owned kennels, an annual budget was approved to pay for any necessary vet treatment for the animals collected. He developed an animal adoption program though social media and personal contacts that resulted in every stray animal recovered either being returned to its owner or rehomed.
When this new council moved in councillor Jeff Wisznieski promised to continue with the volunteer program to help the animals, his then new personal assistant, your partner Samantha Hull was to be the manager of the program. However, once they got their feet under the table, and after weeks of stalling and lies, they decided that they did not want to do the work. The new council reinstated a contract with Cereco from Crevillente and cancelelled the budget for veterinary fees. The Cereco vans once again come here to collect stray animals. It is a massive animal collection business, they have a contract with 40 different municipalities to collect animals. I have been to Cereco in Crevillente recently. There is no examination room, no quarantine, no exercise areas, dogs are so stressed they attack each other in the cages, dogs with visible signs of serious infections are thrown into a cage full of others. They are not in the cages for long, the incinerator in the same building is just through the adjoining doorway.
Richie, you say that you would do nothing to compromise your impartiality. Heartlessly, you just did!
